Artwork
My artwork can be divided into 4 sections:
Work on paper: with pastels, oil, acrylic, ink, crayon, pencil, graphite and a slew of other materials, ‘drawings’ are made on paper and mounted on wooden panels with an archival quality acrylic binder (also used in all other artwork). Only birch plywood is used and after sufficient drying all works are finished with specific fixatives.
Collages of used materials: using found materials ranging from old bed sheets to metals and recycled old wood, these collages are glued with an acrylic binder, nailed and screwed together on framed canvas.
Wax paintings: using hot encaustic wax (a mix of beeswax and damar resin) paintings are brushed or poured, knifed, ladled or thrown onto birch plywood 3D panels. Before use, the panels are first primed with glue, dried, and then grounded with a mix of glue, whiting and zinc oxide. The smallest panels are sized 12 x 12 inches, bigger ones are multiples of 12 x 12 inches.
Paintings on canvas: paintings made with acrylic, oil and/or spray paint, are made on framed canvas. When the paint gets too heavy and thick through the use of additives like dirt, white sand, metal powder or pigments, additional wooden support is mounted underneath the canvas.
